ABOUT AKINS CONSTRUCTION, INC.
After working and becoming a project manager for mostly commercial and industrial construction for 20 years, David Akins founded his own company, Akins Construction, INC. in 1999 in Franklin, Kentucky. The business grew so much that in 2015 we opened at another location in Madisonville, Kentucky. An office in Cadiz, Kentucky opened in the spring of 2021 to serve construction needs for this community. Our company is dedicated to serving our clients by providing a wide variety of services such as general contracting and project management. Meet the Team
David Akins
Founder and President
David Akins founded Akins Construction in 1999. He has worked with a long list of clients, architects, engineers, and government agencies in the planning, design, and successful completion of many commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
Glenn Burns
Project Manager, Supervisor, and Estimator
Glenn Burns has been working for Akins Construction since retiring in 2014 as the Chief Building Official of the City of Bowling Green. From 1977-1982 he worked for two well-known engineering companies serving as a crew member, crew chief, and eventually becoming an office manager.
Certifications: State of Kentucky Level III Building Inspector
Lee Grider
Project Manager and Jobsite Superintendent
Lee formed the Grider Company in 2001 offering consultation services in business development, recruitment, and safety management. His experience includes international construction and served in 82nd Airborne.
Qualifications: BS Engineering Physics, MS Physics, MS Engineering Management
Mark Pais
Consultant
Mark joined the Akins team in 2016. His experience started in carpentry and quickly developed into superintendent roles over very complex projects. His consulting advise is greatly appreciated.
Qualifications: BS Architectural Engineering from WKU
Vickey Grimsley
Project Manager, Supervision and Estimating
Joining the Akins team in April 2026, construction has been her life for over 40+ years. From design to project management she brings residential, commercial, industrial, and hospitality experience.
Qualifications: Certifications in First Aid and CPR
Karen Akins
Office Manager and Controller
Karen has been with Akins Construction since the beginning. She has been working in the construction industry since 1979 holding many office and bookkeeping related positions.
Certifications: Associate Degree in Applied Science with Accounting, Payroll, Account Record keeping and General Business Certificates
Hayes Atkinson
Intern - WKU Construction Management
Akins Construction is proud to bring in interns from WKU for over 10 years.
Hayes is a second-year student at WKU in Construction Management. He has experience with AutoCAD and Revit, electrical, minor HVAC and plumbing mechanicals.
Certifications: OSHA Construction Safety and Health
